to 8/10/06 (Hemangiosarcoma)
Sire:
Ch Sundarby’s Fleetwood Mac, SOM
Dam:
DK’s Broken Arrow
Breeders:
Dianna Helmke and Carrie Farmer
Biography | Photos
Charlie was the quintessential boxer – sweet,
loyal, intelligent, loving, humble, well mannered, protective.
Everyone who knew Charlie, loved Charlie.
While never receiving his championship (actually he
thought this was highly over-rated and had better things
to do - like sit in my lap), Charlie did attend some
shows and retired with 7 points.
This special boy left us with so many fond memories.
... our trip to ABC when you were six months old;
trips down the Homosassa River by boat and weekends spent
on an island; Christmas’s where you would proficiently
open all the presents; visiting boxer cousin Fuji in
Alabama; sitting by the bed, grunting, to tell us it
was time to get up; saddling up beside the chair to get
your back scratched; sitting in the golf cart waiting
patiently for someone to come along and take you for
a ride; running full steam on the five acres we moved
to in Ocala; waiting for what seemed like hours by a
tree for a squirrel to make a mistake and venture down ….
Falling asleep with your head on my lap.
Many thanks are extended to Dianna Helmke, Charlie’s
breeder, for allowing me the privilege to love
and be loved by Charlie – he truly is my unforgettable
boy.

In Loving Memory of
'Rocky'

11-6-88
to 10-11-98
(Congestive heart failure & suspected
brain tumor)
Biography | Photos
My husband had grown up with boxers,
but Rocky was my first introduction to the breed. I was
clueless about conformation, training, showing, crating,
and the finer points such as nail dremmeling and grooming.
Considering I was not a ‘dog’ person, and did not want the hair,
the mess, or any of the trappings related to dog care, Rocky quickly persuaded
me otherwise. Little did I know at the time that Rocky would be the impetus for
my ‘boxer obsession’.
This boy was all boxer. ... he was funny, loyal, loving
and protective. Rocky also had a penchant for escaping
and he would travel down the golf course to his girlfriend
Sammi’s house.
When he became so ill and seizures left him weak and
dazed, Rocky made one last trip to Sammi’s house
for a visit. How he had the strength to do this is beyond
me. .... surely showed me the determination and loyalty
of this breed.
It was very difficult to let Rocky go,
as he was loved and adored by so many. But, he left
us a significant legacy, one that would leave an imprint
of the boxer breed upon our hearts. Had it not been for this remarkable
boy entering my life, I would be none the wiser about the wonderful world
of boxers. For this Rocky, I thank you!
